About Me
I am an award-winning ecofashion handbag designer. I am passionate about spreading the word about reducing consumption, and am using my ecofashion line to do it. www.dressedupcat.com
What does sangha or community mean to you?
I am a practicing Buddhist. My sangha is one of the three jewels of refuge, along with Buddha and Dharma, and they help me to sustain and build my practice.
Do you practice green living? If yes, how?
Yes--my ecofashion design business incorporates my personal philosophies into my business life (at last!).

Do you meditate ? If yes what is your practice?
Yes. Daily, in the morning. Prayers and chanting, followed by object meditation on a topic having to do with wisdom or compassion, as taught in my tradition.
What are your favorite eco-friendly products, places to hang out or shop in, and/or web sites?
Just starting to explore the online eco world, and delighted to see how much is "out there". Locally, farmer's markets, resale shops, garage sales, flea markets. It's all treasure hunting and FUN!

Hello, Sangha!

I am really pleased to have come across Go Green Sangha this morning! I wrote a lot about why I joined in my "profile", and the photos I've uploaded are of handbags from my eco-fashion line, Dressed Up Cat Fashion RE-Fashioned Handbags. I have gotten some wonderful local and a bit of national coverage for my award-winning line. The white handbag with the watches--named "Summertime"--was a finalist for an international design award in June this year.

I am trying to use my handbags as a platform to spread the word about recycling and reducing consumption. I think the fashion industry may be one of the last to "get onboard" with some common sense, and with every bag I sell iI feel like I am making progress towards something meaningful (something I never felt in my 18 years in the finance industry!)

I was recently nominated for a Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in teh People's Choice category, and am currently 4th in the voting. If you can relate to anything I am saying or doing, I hope you will consider voting for me--a win would really expand my platform to get the message of "greening" out. http://peoplesdesignaward.cooperhewitt.org/2008/nominee/1662 Winners will be announced in NY on October 23rd.

Namaste!
Tracy

Namaste Tracy. Welcome. You are an amazing person. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself. I love what you are doing with your eco-purses. I will contact you by the end of the year to discuss an interview on one of the 2009 episodes of Go Green Sangha Radio.
